About the course
Bachelor in Public Health is an undergraduate degree, which trains students in the essential skills needed to plan, initiate and manage healthcare programs. Research has shown the impact of healthy lifestyles on the rate of incidence of illnesses and on increasing longevity; hence, public health is now considered a very significant area of study. The course is designed to promote an understanding of health and disease based on public health principles. The primary goal of Bachelors in public health at PSPH is to enable and train people in public health who will help communities to achieve their optimal level of health and encourage them to adopt health behaviors in turn improve the quality of life of individuals and communities.
The program helps learners to apply public health skills and competencies across a number of public health-related settings in order to improve the health of communities. Rooted in the principles and competencies of public health, the curriculum prepares students to translate and apply course content into practice, students learn about a range of issues impacting population health and healthcare systems, including environmental health, disease prevention, health informatics, global health, ethics, and behavioral and cultural issues.
Duration : 4 years (8 semesters)
- Candidates for admission to BPH course should have completed higher secondary level or pre-university college (10 +2) in any stream
( note: candidates from other than science stream will undergo a bridge course of 2 months in college, where there will be no exams for this)
- Candidates for admission to BPH course should have completed higher secondary level or pre-university college (10 +2) in any stream
OR
- Candidates completing a 3 year Diploma in Allied Health Sciences after 10th
OR
- Candidates completing 2 years Diploma in Allied Health Sciences after pre-university college (10+2)
OR
- Equivalent course established under law Considered equivalent thereto by RGUHS.
Example of Diploma course that are eligible ( not limited to below list)- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
- Diploma in X-Ray Technology.
- Diploma in Health Inspector.
- Diploma in Medical Records Technology.
- Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology.
- Diploma in Dialysis Technology.
- Diploma in Ophthalmic Technology.
- Diploma in Dental Mechanics.
- Diploma in Dental Hygiene
- Diploma in Community Health
- The minimum 40% marks obtained. In case of SC/ST candidates a pass in 10+2 or equivalent.
Lateral entry: Candidates who have completed 3 years Diploma in any health sciences, or diploma in public health/community medicine can join 3 rd semester directly provided they have undergone training in minimum of three topics mentioned in semester 1 and 2 of BPH curriculum of RGUHS or any equivalent topics related to public health.
Candidates who have completed 3 years Diploma after 12th /10 + 2/PUC are eligible to 2nd year directly.
